I am certain we have spoke on Quinten 909 at some point on here. Dude is a very talented young producer and from the track selection of this mix, he has some fine taste in other people’s music as well.
This is also the first preview of the forthcoming White Girl Lust tune from Pleasure & Pressure Vol.3 – check the 16:20 mark for the exxxclusive.
Last week we posted up that Bag Raiders had included a new White Girl Lust remix of Diamond Lightst on their latest mixtape. The timing was perfect as Yes Yes Records dropped the full EP today with additionall remixes from C.R.S.T., Isaac Tichauer, and a VIP Diamond Lights reworking.
The general vibe of this is a early 90′s hands in the air feel with soaring Strings of Life-esqe chords. Each remix retains that vibe consistently, all while adding their own twist on the era-centric sound.
Yes Yes Records has quickly became a favorite label at SBR HQ. Their sound is impeccable as is their in-house roster. Additionally with previous remixes from Todd Edwards, Azari & III, and many other great names – it is truly a label to watch.
This week fate pushed together Solid Bump and the amazing blog, Chemical Jump in many ways. First Adulture of Paper Cat fame did a exclusive guest mix. Then White Girl Lust hopped on the bandwagon and did an interview and exclusive mix.

Last Friday Hacksaw Ent. joined up with Solid Bump Records to present Carte Blanche (i.e. Mehdi & Riton). The show was top notch and featured an opening set from Shane King (half of Hacksaw’s team) followed by Eric from White Girl Lust. His set wrapped up with a short performance by SBR’s resident Diva – Alona who was accompanied by the Counter Culture Collective dancers for a full blown Burlesque style show.
We have full video we will be posting soon, but for now, read the interview from SF weekly to get a bit of the inside scoop about the full collaboration.
Carte Blanche (a.k.a Mehdi & Riton) have set off the start to their North American tour and reports are flooding in that their 4 turntable, 1 Pioneer CDJ, 1 TR-909 sets are MURDERING dancefloors. Thus we could not be more hyped for the SF show July 2nd at Mezzanine.
Shane King and White Girl Lust got together and compiled a 22 minute mix featuring selected tunes from all the artist involved – just to get you a taste of what to expect. We also included the debut of the full vocal version of White Girl Lust’s remix of Ghost’s of Venice “Her” featuring Alona. She will be joining White Girl Lust that night at the end of his DJ set to debut some more forth coming tracks. Expect some extra surprises in tow for that performance.
Things have been busy at Solid Bump HQ. Meroz’s first EP is burning up the Turntable Lab and Juno charts. A new member of of the Solid Bump family made it’s way to Clayton’s life. Paper Cat masters are good to go. So that being said, Solid Bump has teamed up with Hacksaw Ent. to begin a series of Solid Bump sanctioned events in San Francisco. The first is a perfect fit.
Medhi of Ed Banger and Riton have teamed up to start a new act called Carte Blanche. While both are known for their more electro productions, the idea with this project is to get off the bangers and jack the house. That is totally a good sign that bumpity house music is coming back – which is the whole mission statement of Solid Bump.
July 2nd Carte Blanche will be touching down in San Francisco at Mezzanine. White Girl Lust will be opening up with a hybrid DJ/ live set along with Shane King of Hacksaw. We will let you know once tickets go on sale!
Last week I was lucky enough to be on the line up for Sleazemore’s B-Day featuring VERY special guest Erol Alkan from London.Shane King from Hacksaw Ent. opened up the night (unfortunately we didn’t get any video), followed by myself and Sleazemore. The night was top notch from the start and by the time Erol stepped up a great crowd had developed.
Up top is a short montage of the nights happenings. If you are in SF make sure you come by the Telephoned/ Sammy Bananas show on 04/28 or the Academy of Science on 04/29 – both will feature Eric from White Girl Lust and a short preview of some live material from the label with Alona of Oui fame!
Last week, the disco don of the bay area – Sergio, invited me (Eric from White Girl Lust) and Solid Bump on his weekly show on KALX 90.7fm. I dipped in for the last hour and played a slew of new material from the label and ran my flap periodically – thus displaying my quick witted banter and extremely loud voice. Sergio was cool enough to post up a Soundcloud link to the full show. You can peep the first 2 hours of Sergio’s funky collection of disco and funk. The Solid Bump mix starts at 120.00
You can catch Sergio at one of his many events in the SF area such as Go Bang and Machine.
This weekend two Solid Bump related evens are going down on separate coasts, one in NYC and on in SF. If you are out on either Coast, swing on through and slap a Solid Bump ass or two. Ghost of Venice are in from far away UK.
Trivia: Did you know Santos is co-owned by Andrew WK? Whodathink?
San Francisco promoter/ DJ Corey Sleazemore took the initiative a few weeks ago to round up a “who’s who” of Bay Area electronic music talent to sponsor a fund raiser for Haiti. Mezzanine was generous to supply the venue and ample promotional support. The talent pool was absolutely second to none including Trackademicks, WallPaper, Hot Tub, and a slew of some of the best local DJs.
Solid Bump was thrilled to have White Girl Lust involved in this event. The music was amazing all night and THE EVENT RAISED NEARLY $4000 for the Red Cross! Thanks to anyone who supported this event!
