Ghosts of Venice – Grum & Spiller Remixes
Published March 26, 2010 Free Download , Friends of SBR , Remixes Leave a CommentTags: Ghost's of Venice, Grum, Heartbeats Records, Spiller
Just to show that Solid Bump can spread the love as well as receive it – we decided to shine a little light on one of our favorite up & coming producers again. Ghosts of Venice is getting to be well known for both his perfectly honed disco cut ups as well as his strangely enthusiastic “friendship” with Garrett from Le Principle. All jokes aside, truly he is a name to watch in 2010.
Below is a free download (just click the little arrow) of his edit of the classic - Spiller “GrooveJet”, which was used in Tommie Sunshine‘s WMC sampler. To make the deal even sweeter – peep the streaming preview of his official remix of Grum‘s epic “Can’t Shake This Feeling” which just dropped this week on Beatport.

Fred Falke – When I Look Into Your Eyes (Laberge & Quinten 909 Bootlegs)
Published March 12, 2010 Friends of SBR , Laberge , Remixes 1 CommentTags: Fred Falke, Laberge, Quinten 909

To be completely frank and somewhat embarrassed – I know very little about this Fred Falke jam. I do know it has yet to be released. I know Laberge did a bootleg of it. I know that Quinten 909 also did one. Seems if I am correct that this has not been released, perhaps ole Fred is a day late and a dollar short. Oh modern music – you never cease to amaze me.
That being said, we love Laberge and Quinten is a name to watch in 2010 as well. Let’s get on with it then…
Takin’ It Straight (Qzen & Alona Edit) – Cory Josias
Published February 2, 2010 Friends of SBR , Remixes Leave a CommentTags: 40 Thieves, Alona, Cory Josias, Qzen
As part of introducing the next wave of Solid Bump, we will be dropping little gems from the contributing artist in the coming weeks as well as interviews, scandalous back stories, incriminating pictures, and choons.
The first comes in the form of a simple but funkin’ edit from Alona & Qzen. If you checked out the song clips in the last post, the sassy french voice on Oui comes from Alona. Not being content to just be a pretty voice talking naughty, she also is a reigning disco queen DJ in the bay and has been known to turn out a edit or two herself.
For this one she joined up with another SF diva, Qzen. You may know her work with the 40 Thieves collective including last year’s nu-disco hit Don’t Turn It Off as well as collaborations with Claude Von Stroke, John Tejada, etc.
In their words the inspiration for this edit was deep rooted in a vision…”Hey let’s make cookies and work on an edit, you know, chick stuff.”

Girlfriend Is Better (Bit Funk Edit) – Talking Heads
Published January 14, 2010 Friends of SBR , Remixes 2 CommentsTags: Bit Funk, Talking Heads

Yesterday in a twitter gangbang between some fellow producer nerds, a familiar topic came up again in my life – the joys of the Talking Heads. Hands down this is my all time favorite band and of course I am not the only one.
Through that lovefest I was hipped to stellar edit of “Girlfriend Is Better” by up and coming Chicago producer Bit Funk. Although I can’t share the details yet, we were introduced to him through some new artist we are working with and he has already done a remix of one of the singles. It is absolutely top notch business and I can say it is shaping up to be one of the most exciting singles we have planned for 2010. For now, check out this edit which is executed how a edit should be, true to the original but enough unique flair to make it stand tall.
