For SXSW, our pal Mike 2600 of Burlesque North America compiled the 3rd installment of his Do It To It series. It had been literally a couple of years since White Girl Lust had done a bootleg (remember when those were white labels?) – thus we signed up. The result was this pumped up filter house remix of the purple crusader’s infamous 1979 hit. What else is there to say? Classic and useful = a winner.

Laberge – he may only do a few official releases a year but his generosity keeps him pure. Let’s all hope this electro-funk tinged flavor is a trend he keeps up for his next Solid Bump release.
Things have been busy at Solid Bump HQ. Meroz’s first EP is burning up the Turntable Lab and Juno charts. A new member of of the Solid Bump family made it’s way to Clayton’s life. Paper Cat masters are good to go. So that being said, Solid Bump has teamed up with Hacksaw Ent. to begin a series of Solid Bump sanctioned events in San Francisco. The first is a perfect fit.
Medhi of Ed Banger and Riton have teamed up to start a new act called Carte Blanche. While both are known for their more electro productions, the idea with this project is to get off the bangers and jack the house. That is totally a good sign that bumpity house music is coming back – which is the whole mission statement of Solid Bump.
July 2nd Carte Blanche will be touching down in San Francisco at Mezzanine. White Girl Lust will be opening up with a hybrid DJ/ live set along with Shane King of Hacksaw. We will let you know once tickets go on sale!

Last week Le Principle dropped another stellar edit on the world. It’s a reworking of the 1979 Machine classic “But For The Grace of God”. This is a top notch edit and 100% dancefloor ready.
Clayton from White Girl Lust also had a big release. The birth of his first born child. It’s definitely best work to date and we expect that it will continue to be a really big release for him for decades to come. Congrats! In homage of his family, here is my fave track on the subject of children.
We got mad crew love here at Solid Bump – which is something I firmly believe in. I mean would No Limit Records have been what it was without a ride or die crew? But the downside is that you hear us talk about a lot of the same artist – a lot. Well, down at SXSW this year Eric from White Girl Lust and Laberge were lucky enough to meet some really cool new folks who happen to throw one of the most happening disco parties in New York City – Discovery at Santos.
As it happens, two of the people are awesome DJ/ producers too, going by the names of Free Magic & VDRK. We went to their SXSW soiree and it was one of the best times I had down there, with guest appearances by Treasure Fingers and Woofly, as well as the Discovery folks.

We said the Solid Bump posse was on overdrive so far this spring. This time Laberge is up to bat with a bit something even deeper than his usual fair. It’s a stellar remix of an unlikely source – 90′s songstress Monica.

Just to show that Solid Bump can spread the love as well as receive it – we decided to shine a little light on one of our favorite up & coming producers again. Ghosts of Venice is getting to be well known for both his perfectly honed disco cut ups as well as his strangely enthusiastic “friendship” with Garrett from Le Principle. All jokes aside, truly he is a name to watch in 2010.
