Lee Dunn (better known as Ghosts of Venice) has had a big year. After self-releasing his “I Learned From The Best” EP, he quickly caught the attention of the A&R teams at Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Dust Traxx, and of course, Solid Bump Records. In the months to follow he has lent his passion for jacked up Disco House to a slew of official remixes including Grum’s “Can’t Shake This Feeling” and James Talk & Ridney’s massive Ibiza summer anthem “Forever”. Solid Bump is proud to debut his first commercially available original track entitled “Her”. The song serves as a homage to the long days of a summer passed, with a highly swung laidback groove that keeps in perfect tow with the signature sound of Solid Bump.
The remix selection is a showcase of the exciting talent Solid Bump has in store in 2011, with a large portion of the label’s roster lending their spin on the single. White Girl Lust completely re-imagines the original as an epic piano house burner, complete with vocals from Alona. Chicago’s Bit Funk glosses the tune with his distinct synth-pop sheen. Meanwhile, Mix Chopin lives up to his name with a lively cut & paste session. The release is rounded out by the low-key vibes of Mykill & Meroz.
Lordamerci – last week Solid Bump’s Mykill, who you may recall from Pleasure & Pressure Vol.2, dropped a duo of stellar mixes on us. If that ain’t enough to raise your pants tent then this should get a rise out of you. Mykill and Meroz have been hitting the ole DAW together and apparently have some hot sh#t brewing. You can get the first taste of the team efforts on their remix of Ghosts of Venice’s “Her”.

Our latest Bumpketeer, Mykill, has been getting a stellar response on his debut track “Love Story” of Pleasure & Pressure Vol.2. Local SF hype machine, SF Station, was so intrigued they tracked him down almost immediately to ask some questions.

Phew, we survived SXSW and had a great time. While we were away Clayton from WGL wrapped up a piece of modern cinema brilliance – the trailer video for Pleasure & Pressure Vol.2. It gives you a little glimpse of what we look like in the real world and what our daily lives are like at Solid Bump. Just keeping it real, ya know?
The EP has been getting an AMAZING response – currently it is #1 on the Turntable Lab charts as well as the “Release of the Moment”! Also big up to everyone who has been dropping it in their sets as well as those who said they were going to give it some burn in Miami! If you don’t have it, get it!

SBR: How did you connect with Solid Bump?
M: I had met Eric (WGL) through the local dj scene and hung out a few times but never really talked about the label. I was dj’ing out in Phoenix one weekend and a friend of mine showed me the mix they did for XLR8R which featured the song “Blackout”. The song got stuck in my head so I hit him up over email to ask for the track at the same time mentioning that I had been writing similar music. After sending him some early tunes both Eric and Clay were interested in the sound I was going for and wanted to talk about putting some of it out. We all hit it off really well and shared the same vision for the music and label, from there I was asked to be a part of the roster.
