I know tonight’s free show with Telephoned at Harlot (RSVP HERE) – which features a open bar from 8-10 – is going to be a most uncivilized affair – so tomorrow Eric from White Girl Lust will be bringing classy back.

The Academy of Science is a sight to see no matter what day it is, but Thursday nights they open op their doors to the 21+ crowd. Cocktails are on hand and funky music flows like the fishy waters. On any given Saturday, the place is filled with tourist, long lines, and screaming babies – so this is a chance to get all the awesome from the Academy without any problems.

We got mad crew love here at Solid Bump – which is something I firmly believe in. I mean would No Limit Records have been what it was without a ride or die crew? But the downside is that you hear us talk about a lot of the same artist – a lot. Well, down at SXSW this year Eric from White Girl Lust and Laberge were lucky enough to meet some really cool new folks who happen to throw one of the most happening disco parties in New York City – Discovery at Santos.

As it happens, two of the people are awesome DJ/ producers too, going by the names of Free Magic & VDRK. We went to their SXSW soiree and it was one of the best times I had down there, with guest appearances by Treasure Fingers and Woofly, as well as the Discovery folks.

Telephoned & Sammy Bananas at Harlot SF 4/28

Next week Solid Bump is hooking up with Hacksaw Ent. to host the SF debut of Telephoned (of Fools Gold Rec). If you don’t know Telephoned consist of Maggie Horn on vocals and Sammy Bananas on the beat. The two tear through live covers of everyone from T-Pain to Kid Sister. White Girl Lust will be doing a hybrid dj/live set – unveiling some new tracks with Alona on vocals. The #1 homie Shane King will be opening up the evening.

What is more, there is a free open bar from 7-10, so you know things will be slapping by the end of that session. We recommend calling in the next day.

Also, Sammy Bananas has done a remix for Le Principle and OCD Automatic’s HUGE Paper Cat single – forthcoming in June. The remix is OUT OF CONTROL – with a sultry vox drop and wailing sax. To tempt you here is a clip of the unmastered version.

So, firstly, don’t get it twisted – we love this track – even though it is not currently signed to Solid Bump. In fact we are not certain when or where it will be made commercially available. Regardless, it is top notch and deserves some shine.

That being said, Le Principle & OCD Automatic’s debut single for Solid Bump – “Paper Cat” – is in mastering and will be hitting the streets soon! Monday we will unveil a clip of the AWESOME remix from Sammy Bananas.

Additionally, Solid Bump will be releasing a new version of Ghosts of Venice’s “Her” with remixes from White Girl Lust, Mykill, Moonchild, Bit Funk, and Mix Chopin.

Last week I was lucky enough to be on the line up for Sleazemore’s B-Day featuring VERY special guest Erol Alkan from London.Shane King from Hacksaw Ent. opened up the night (unfortunately we didn’t get any video), followed by myself and Sleazemore. The night was top notch from the start and by the time Erol stepped up a great crowd had developed.

Up top is a short montage of the nights happenings. If you are in SF make sure you come by the Telephoned/ Sammy Bananas show on 04/28 or the Academy of Science on 04/29 – both will feature Eric from White Girl Lust and a short preview of some live material from the label with Alona of Oui fame!

Things have been busy over at SBR HQ and we are preparing a slew of new goodies for you. Coincidentally Laberge gave us this track – appropriately titled “Intermission”. It’s a bit of something different from the Vancouver bad man – this one almost borders on Boards of Canada territory. So sit back and relax.

Later this week we will have a new Nerd Alert, footage from the Erol Alkan show, and the unveiling of Sammy Bananas “Paper Cat Remix” in celebration of the gig White Girl Lust is playing with him next week!

We have posted up the preview for the forthcoming debut EP from Meroz entitled Trump. It’s a cut up start and stop affair that pays a toast to Thomas Bangalter’s Roulé imprint. It also features a a remix from Toronto’s Gingy and Bordello, who’s forthcoming Vaporizer track is earning major support from Brodinski and Jokers of the Scene. The release drops late May!

This Wednesday night we celebrate the birthday’s of Sleazemore and Eric from White Girl Lust, with a very special guest at Infatuation – Erol Alkan making his San Francisco debut. For those that don’t know – Erol has been a very influential DJ over the last 8 years and in the course of history has remixed tracks for Hot Chip, Justice, The Klaxxons, and many more. Most recently he founded the stellar Phantasy Sound imprint. Join us over at Vessel – the night will also be supported by Shane King from Hacksaw Ent.

Last week, the disco don of the bay area – Sergio, invited me (Eric from White Girl Lust) and Solid Bump on his weekly show on KALX 90.7fm. I dipped in for the last hour and played a slew of new material from the label and ran my flap periodically – thus displaying my quick witted banter and extremely loud voice. Le Principle – Le Mix Vol.1

The dudes from Le Principle didn’t even bother to tell me they had done a mix – I had to just stumble upon it. I am glad I did. What’s so fun for me about this mix is that it’s almost 100% straight house music and hardly any disco loops. No hatred on the two bar loop – but sometimes its nice to just hear a good jacking beat, chopped vocal, and SH101 bassline. I was shocked when I saw Miguel Migs in the mix too. Whoa!
